Interactive Pareto Optimal with Advantage and Application in Distribution Planning

An interactive pareto optimal with advantage (IPOA) approach for bi-objective programming is proposed and applied on capacitor placement and sizing problem. Two main contradictory concerned which including cost and quality properties are considered as bi-objective programming formulation. The IPOA approach can provide a valuable trade-off pareto-optimal solution by following the intention of decision makers (DMs). Many nonlinear characteristics of distribution feeders, and their load, operating and expansion constraints could be all considered for practical operation. Also, both fixed and switched types of capacitors are included. The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach were demonstrated by an actual feeder study systematically with particle swarm optimization method. The experiment showed encouraging results, suggesting that the proposed approach was capable of efficiently determining higher quality solutions about distribution planning problem.
